Fall: Fertilizer Treatment and Winterizing Turf
Apply an application of a slow release granular fertilizer with Nitrogen and Potassium now to build a strong root growth.
During the winter months, your lawn needs at least one inch of water per month because the root system is still active during the winter months. Most winter months, North Dallas receives enough precipitation (rain, sleet and snow) so that irrigation is not needed. Proper winter watering will result in a healthy lawn that will green up quickly in the Spring.
Keep turf mowed at a proper height of 2 ½ – 3 inches high right up to the first frost usually mid-November. By maintaining turf at the proper height, the turf is more resistant to weeds and winter freeze damage.
